I assured myself it could never happen. But no, America has decided to fuck up the world even more.
America is remaking Skins.
MTV has apparently been trying to get their hands on the show for two years, and well now they’ve succeeded. The show will be set in Baltimore, which is something to be optimistic about I guess, at least it’s not set it “upper east-side Manhattan.” I wish Showtime were the ones remaking it, at least they’re a bit more daring…and at least they’re not afraid to say fuck.
MTV will probably censor it to death. The original screens on BBC America, with most of the swearing and nudity and well basically the whole show cut out.
Seriously can America not watch anything that is not made by America? Is watching a British show really that bad? Sure, there may be the cultural differences, but get over it already! They’re not that hard figure out! And as for the language barrier, you’re both English speaking countries! If you don’t understand the slang (which is also not that hard to figure out) then Google it or something. If you’re really that dumb turn on the bloody subtitles.
I hope this show can pull it off. I think the different social issues will be interesting, if they dare go near them. And ten bucks says Channel Ten will pick it up at some point.
